ABOUT
Joyce
Joyce Pinckney (1943-2015) was a nurse, dancer, artist, mother, grandmother, poet, storyteller, composer, songwriter, arranger, and music teacher whose contagious love of making music and art enriched the lives of all who knew her.

Although she was a proud Canadian, she loved Southern Arizona and had a part-time home in Tucson for much of her life, and would have been proud to see her legacy in action.
Joyce believed that no one should miss out on the joy of music. To honor her, we have created this scholarship to subsidize private music lessons in our community.
ABOUT
The Scholarship
The student awarded this scholarship will be eligible to receive lessons at a 50% discount on our lowest lesson rate.
Students who have been awarded the scholarship and maintain their eligibility based on attendance, participation and growth will continue to qualify for their subsidized rate through their 18th birthday or the end of their grade 12 year, whichever comes later.
Even if the student or their family leave Tucson, they may opt to keep their subsidy by switching to online lessons.
This scholarship also includes all necessary books, music, theory materials etc... but the student must have their own instrument to practice on at home (and at their lessons, with the exception of piano. They can play our piano for lessons but need a keyboard/piano at home.
Continuing Eligibility Requirements
If you win the scholarship, you will continue to receive your subsidy until the end of 12th grade, as long as you continue to attend lessons, work hard, and make progress!
-
Student's account must be paid on time and in full. Automatic payments or postdated checks are the easiest way to do this.
-
Student must attend and participate fully in their weekly lessons. More than two missed lessons (not made up) will be grounds for loss of eligibility. (We do offer makeup lessons, though!)
-
Student must commit to a reasonable practice schedule and show sustained growth, in the opinion of their teacher.
-
Student will complete theory assignments as required and show improvement in technique and repertoire.
