Summer Music at Desert Home!
Thank you, students and parents, for all your excellent work this school year! We’re so proud of you, and we look forward to a great summer of fun, relaxation and music!
While some people prefer to take summers “off” from music lessons, we know that taking a long break from playing and practicing music can lead to frustration in the fall when we realize that we’ve lost some of the skills we learned during the school year – the phenomenon is called “Summer Slide,” and it’s very real! This is why Desert Home music operates year-round, and we encourage you to continue your lessons if you can. In addition, summer is a great time to start music lessons, since there are often fewer distractions and it’s easier to build the habit of practicing! You could even try out a new instrument over the summer!
Holiday Breaks:
Desert Home Music will be closed June 6-18 for our trip to Canada to pick up Julia’s piano – so look forward to being able to play on a beautiful grand piano in the fall, once it’s tuned and ready!

Spring Music Party!

Summer Schedule Changes?
We understand that you might be taking vacations over the summer – heck, we are! – but that doesn’t mean you have to take the whole summer off! You can reschedule lessons, change your time for the summer, or switch to “6-packs” temporarily, if you’re going to miss several weeks at a time!
Ask us for details about how to get the most out of summer lessons!
Julia is Opening New Days!
As of the beginning of June, I will be teaching exclusively for Desert Home Music (thanks again for that, all you wonderful students who made it possible)!
This means that I will be available to schedule regular lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays as well as Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I will continue to have occasional Saturday makeup slots available, but I’m not currently assigning regular Saturday times. If you’d like to change your regular lesson day to one of the newly opened days, just contact me!
Fall Registration
If you are taking a break over the summer or just switching your lesson time (often a daytime slot during the summer works better than your usual evening slot), make sure that you reserve your preferred “school year” timeslot as soon as you can! Current students get priority in scheduling, so you can get your first choice of time/day if you reserve now!
